The England Seniors team have won a gold medal at the European Championships in Opatija, Croatia. The team of Paul Hackett & David Mossop, Gunnar Hallberg & John Holland, David Price & Colin Simpson, with NPC Simon Cochemé, dominated the final round robin after a shaky first match, winning 8 matches in a row and finishing up 12 VPs clear of silver medalists Sweden. Poland were third. This is England's first medal in this event and it also means they now qualify for the World Championships in Chennai next year, an event they won in 2009.
Our other two teams are going strong too. The Open team won their group and go through to the second Round Robin with the fifth best carryover and a terrific chance of picking up another medal. The women are currently lying first with five matches to play.
