The National Inter-Club Knockout (NICKO) Plate has been won by the team from Gosport Bridge Club. Phil Downham, Adrian Fontes, John Jones and Mahmood Nurmohamed beat a team from Leeds BC (Robin Jepson, Alan Brosgill, Martin Edge & Nick Woolven) 90-65 in the final.
Phil Downham contributed a report on this hand:
After a friendly but hard fought contest, Gosport ran out winners by 90-65 IMPs. With a combination of good luck and sound judgement, Gosport gained imps on several boards when their aggressive bidding pushed Leeds to the 5 level. On the hand below, however, it was Gosport who successfully judged to bid on.

Leeds didn't find the diamond ruff, so 2 off, undoubled, was a good save against the making game.
A rare case of a vulnerable sacrifice against non-vulnerable opponents.
