April issue of English Bridge out now

The April 2020 issue of English Bridge is out now and will be delivered to eligible members in the next few days.

We hope you enjoy it, though you will note that most of it was written before the current situation with COVID-19 developed. The April issue was sent to our printers prior to the escalation of the current pandemic situation. With this in mind, there are some competitions mentioned in this issue that have now been cancelled.

We would also like to take this opportunity to inform you that due to the current situation, the June issue of English Bridge will be sent online only. We will keep you informed of any further updates via the EBU site and email.

David Bird talks through some of the hands from this year's Camrose Trophy, page 46.

Junior Camrose & Peggy Bayer

Laura Covill looks at the ups and downs of the youth teams as Wales hosted this year's Junior Camrose & Peggy Bayer, page 52.

Sarah Bell has written a fantastic quiz which will test your knowledge on the basics of Acol bidding. This is a must-read for all players looking to become fluent in Acol, page 6.

The 2020/2021 Members' Diary

Please remember if you wish to receive a diary with the August issue of English Bridge you will need to positively OPT IN and have enough magazine points by 15TH JUNE

The best and easiest way to opt-in is by changing the setting on your account on My EBU. Click on 'account' in the top right corner, select 'My details', and then in the 'account setting' section of the page, under the magazine/diary preference option use the drop down list to choose your preferred setting.

We believe this is the environmentally and financially responsible action to take in order to eliminate waste. If you do still wish to receive the diary, then please opt in and we will be very happy to send one to you. If you no longer require a paper copy of the magazine and are happy to read it solely online, you can also amend your preferences in My EBU account setting, or by letting us know.
