Schapiro Spring Foursomes Entries Still Open!

Entries for the one of the great events in the English calendar, the Schapiro Spring Foursomes,  are currently at 34 teams, with the expectation of a few more to come, and we have an impressive list of teams currently entered

The principal event, the Schapiro Trophy, has become one of the toughest events in domestic bridge. It is run on double-elimination lines and this year will be over seven sessions each of 32 boards, with an additional final of 48 boards played on the Tuesday.

A secondary event, the Punchbowl, will be open to teams eliminated before Saturday evening. It has a round-robin qualifier followed by a mini knockout. The Hamilton Cup is a more relaxed event for teams who have been eliminated from the main event and the Punchbowl, seeking a game on Sunday night and Monday.

The event takes place 29th April to 3rd May, and is following a similar format as in previous years, with two consolation events for teams knocked out in the early stages. Please see the event webpage for more information on the event.

Please note:  Please contact our travel sponsors First for Bridge for information about the accommodation hotel, book as soon as you can to ensure the best price from First for Bridge.

If you would like to play but don't have teammates, please contact comps@ebu.co.uk as we have a pair looking for teammates.

Due to the generous sponsorship arrangement in place for this event, prizes are approximately twice the normal EBU value (e.g. approx £1,600 - £2,000 for the winning team based on the typical size of the original entries). We wish to express our gratitude to Mrs Helen Schapiro in supporting this most prestigious event in this way, and in donating a trophy in the name of her husband, the late, and truly great, Boris Schapiro.

It is part of the Championship Series, in which points can be earned towards the Player of the Year Championship.

Please send all entries via email to comps@ebu.co.uk.
