Albert Dormer (1925 – 2014) contributed in many ways to British and International bridge, as player, journalist and administrator.
He was twice winner of the Gold Cup, in 1958 and 1963, and won the World Senior Pairs in 1990 with Alan Hiron. His journalistic career included time as bridge editor for the London Times, editor of British Bridge World, World Bridge News, and the International Bridge Press Association Bulletin, and contributing editor of The Encyclopaedia of Bridge. He was author and co-author of ten other books, including the Complete Book of Bridge. He was named IBPA Personality of the Year in 1981. His work in bridge administration included serving as Executive Assistant to the WBF President from 1982-1986.
