Gladys has made a real contribution to the health and vitality of Bridge in Cambs & Hunts, mainly through her teaching activities. She is well known and highly regarded, has taught for 22 years and is still teaching with no shortage of students. To date there are at least 10 clubs around

Cambridge that her students have started, all playing duplicate bridge. She has been a founder member of two Bridge Clubs and an office bearer in both. In the past has been County Secretary & County Membership Secretary and has served on the Cambridge Club Committee.

Gladys Gittins in her own words:

I have been teaching bridge in Cambridge for many years having started in 1984 when I offered to help the ladies playing rubber bridge at the Golf Club to improve their game. Then I taught in Community Education for many years and several of my groups started their own duplicate bridge clubs.

Now I teach both beginners and improvers at home in a warm relaxed atmosphere, there are no long lectures just a short talk and then some prepared hands to consolidate what has been taught. My aim is for my students to enjoy playing bridge and many new friendships start here around the bridge table.

In 2001 I organised a New Players Tournament for my ex students and others and this is still popular under the new name of Novice Pairs Tournament.
