Hector Barker

HECTOR died peacefully on 9th April 2008. We understand that he wished his body to be donated for medical research. There will be no funeral and it is requested that there are no flowers. Hector acted as Tournament Secretary for Lancashire since its formation when the North West Bridge Association split up in 1987, and acted in that capacity also for the NWBA. He was responsible for all Lancs CBA’s competitions during this time, but stepped down in 2006. Hector received his Dimmie Fleming award in  2007. In recent times the county has missed his presence and counsel at Executive and Council meetings.

The below is from Lancashire as part of Hector's Dimmie Fleming Award 2006:

Hector has acted as Tournament Secretary for Lancashire since its formation when the North West Bridge Association split up in 1987 and acted in that capacity also for the NWBA. Hector has been responsible for all Lancashire CBA’s competitions during this time and has now stepped down from this position. Unfortunately Hector was unable to be present at the AGM to receive his award, and it will be presented at the Lancashire CBA AGM in May 2007.
