Sophie Morris

Sophie was born in 2014 in Durham and has always lived in the Durham area. Her home club is Wearside, whose members have made her incredibly welcome, and she enjoys occasional games in Southend with her grandad Richard Perryman.

Sophie first learned bridge aged 8, when, persuaded by her parents, she went to the EBU Junior Teach-In. Six weeks after starting to play, she played her first duplicate pairs against adults with her grandad, and scored an astonishing 80.6%. She has won the Harry Sculley Trophy (junior schools’ championship, trophy for highest-scoring team not from a single school) two years running. She has been training multiple times weekly with the England juniors and was excited to play for England at the European Youth Team Championship 2024 in Wrocław, Poland winning Bronze making her the youngest medal-winner ever in an EBL or WBF event.

When not playing bridge, Sophie enjoys playing the piano, indoor rock-climbing, and playing hockey. She has two younger sisters she is hoping will learn to play so they can field a family team.
