I was born in St Leonards on Sea and still live locally in Bexhill-On-Sea.
I was taught to play by my mother and frequented St Leonards bridge club for many years before I joined the U21 England Squad in 2013.
In the junior squad, I formed a strong partnership with Michael Alishaw, and we won several EBU competitions and did well on the U26 England team. He then gave up bridge.
I then formed a partnership with Tony Ye, and we were on the England team that came 3rd at the 2019 U26 World Championships. He then gave up bridge.
I then formed a partnership with Charlie Bucknell and won many EBU competitions together. He then gave up bridge.
I am currently looking for a new partner.
While on the squad I devoured books from the Squad library and dreamed of writing my own bridge book, the kind that could be appreciated by players of all standards. That dream came true in 2019 when I wrote and published Crocs on Squeeze Play Volumes 1 & 2, featuring several exotic plays that I have never seen come up at the table.
Because the junior squad meant so much to me, I was very happy to become coach for the England U26s in 2021. I increased my sphere of influence by also becoming Coach of the U21 squad in 2022. And in 2025, I worked as coach for all five England Junior teams at the 2025 Junior World Championships – making me the most likely person to come home with a medal. And I would have too if I hadn’t forgotten to put my name down as coach for the U16 team when they entered the consolation Point a Board event.
Working with the juniors over the past few years has been a joy (when they follow my advice) and now I find myself Captain of the U21 Squad. I can only hope that the next few years are as promising as the last.
Also my favourite colour might be yellow.
