For the fourth day of the EBU Spring Overseas Congress, sponsored by First for Bridge, tournament Director Chris Benneworth talks about the lovely trip around the north of the Island:

Another bright sunny day proved perfect for the full day trip around the north of the island (pictures below). After passing through the tourist areas of Can Picafort and Playa de Muro, we arrived in in Alcudia to take a short walk through the old city. The trip then continued to Pollensa and on to Puerto de Pollensa from which we took a short boat ride to Playa de Formentor, where we were able to enjoy some free time before returning by coach along the beautiful mountain route with a stop at the spectacular Colomar viewpoint, with its view of view of the Bay of Pollensa. As one of the guests wrote afterwards “Lovely trip today, stunning views, coastal boat trip and time to explore the old town in Alcudia. Memorable statues and stubborn wild goats were entertaining!”

The evening event was a pivot teams competition; although one or two folk were tired after the exertions of the day, sixteen teams played; the winners were Kathy and Denis Talbot, David Wing and Chris Taylor (+63 imps) (pictured above). Tanya and George Summers, Rachel Thomas and Srimath Agalawatte were runners-up (+38 imps)

Joan Murphy, who was one of those who went on Wednesday’s guided walk, writes:

“About 48 of us went on the lighthouse walk led by the Guest Manager of our hotel Bella Playa. The lighthouse stands in isolated splendour overlooking steep cliffs and a huge expanse of the Mediterranean sea. It was a clear day with glorious sunshine and we could see across to the island of Menorca. We all managed the climb; some of us struggled a little but it was well worth the effort.  It was a very enjoyable experience.”
