Recently Wakefield Bridge Club celebrated their Platinum Jubilee. Below Club Secretary, Stephen Hanslip details the day's highlights:
Our Jubilee celebrations were a big success, with 13 tables for the afternoon session and 12 for the evening session. The photos show the celebration cake, and our Vice-President Beverley Barrows presenting engraved trophy glassware to the afternoon N-S winners Allan Clarke and Peter Wallace, and the E-W winners (and principal organisers) Elaine Blain and Margret Sewell. The whole day was a very cheerful and positive event, and a good time was had by all.
We had a supportive write up in the local paper The Wakefield Express, and a congratulatory letter from the local MP; and the celebrations continue with a visit from Andrew Robson on Saturday 21 October.
