Cashless Payment Options for Clubs

When setting up a cashless payment system there are two parts for clubs to think about:

1 - Tracking how many games each player has played and then deducting payment or calculating how much they owe.

2 - Collecting payment. This part can be done by bank transfer which avoids any card processing fees.

Below is a list of solution for cashless payment methods that may help with one or other part:

BriAnMas – System for tracking players' payments and fees. Recommends payment by bank transfer although can be expanded to use card payment. See here for details.

Bridgewebs – System for tracking players' payments and fees. Recommends payment by bank transfer. See here for details.

Spadetickets – System for selling tickets for events, includes payment processing using Stripe, PayPal or Square. Used by Basingstoke Bridge Club, article here about their experience. See here for further details.

Bookwhen – System for selling tickets for events, includes payment processing using Stripe, PayPal or Worldpay. See here for details.

Zettle – Payments system but more suited for use in face-to-face clubs. Used by Cheltenham Bridge Club (prior to Covid), article here about their experience. See here for details.

Square & Stripe – Some bridge clubs are using these platforms although both of these providers have told the English Bridge Union (EBU) that they are not able to provide their services to bridge clubs due to gambling concerns. The EBU have explained that duplicate bridge is a skill based game and does not involve gambling but the providers have not changed their position.

Information on cashless payment options that clubs were using prior to Covid can be found here.
