Channel Trophy 2023 Results

The annual junior event held between France, Belgium, England and the Netherlands took place this weekend in Utrecht, Netherlands.

England were represented in three categories, Under 26, Under 21 and Under 26 Women. The events were played as a double round robin, with each country playing each other twice.

The U26s (Daniel Winter, Liam Sanderson, Joseph Clark, Liam Fegarty, Harry Madden, Oscar Selby, NPC: Michael Byrne) (picture) took silver, sadly losing in the final match and final boards by only 3 imps.

The U21s (Henry Rose, James Cater, Theodore Sinclair, Tom Furness, Thomas Gardner, Jamie Fegarty, NPC: Ewa Wieczorek) (pictured) defended their title and came out clear gold medal winners.

The U26W fielded an amazing two teams when Belgium found they didn't have enough players. The 'first' team (Dido Coley, Lily Kearney, Liz Gahan, Imogen La Chapelle, Kim Hudson, Venetia Anoyrkatis, NPC: Claire Robinson) (picture) again took silver losing narrowly, to France but winning the final match against them a fine 15-5. The 'second' team (Charlotte Bedford, Raphaela Sinclair, Megan Jones, Bethany Madden, Harriet Cork, Cecilia Birdsall, NPC: Paul Barden) were in contention for bronze but were sadly pipped in the final match.

Congratulations to all teams!
