Competition Types

A brief explanation of types of competitions commonly run by the EBU

Match-pointed pairs are just like the most common club games people are used to, where you play with a partner and your score on each board is based on how many of the other pairs you beat. Any pairs event can be assumed to be scored like this unless otherwise specified.

William Battersby

I’m Will and I’m 16 years old. I live in London with my family and go to the Harrodian School in Barnes. I’ve just completed my GCSEs and will be going on to take A Levels in the sciences and maths.

I first learnt to play Bridge on family holidays when I was 11 years old and really enjoyed it. I was lucky enough to represent England at the Euro Championships in 2022 and was thrilled to get a silver medal with the team.

Outside of school and Bridge I enjoy playing Padel tennis, squash, rugby and volleyball.
