Club Swiss Pairs / Teams

A Swiss Pairs or Swiss Teams event can be a fun alternative to regular duplicate. It can also be a good opportunity to attract more players and play with a larger field.

Learn Bridge in a Day/Weekend
The idea of this is to have a fast track day of learning, probably for people who are already used to playing cards and want to learn to play bridge. A great opportunity to get more people playing the game we all love!
Read Ned Paul on Learn Bridge in a Weekend. Ned can be contacted for more information at ned@nedpaul.com or on 07792 715517.
Sponsored Bridge
The Young Chelsea Bridge Club in London (and probably other clubs) have run Bridge Marathons where a pair (or 3 people allowing for rest) play for 12 or 24 hours with short breaks between sessions. The events can be great fun although the standard of bridge can drop off a bit when people are struggling to stay awake and are perfect for raising funds through sponsorship.
Open Days
Bridge Club Open Days can be a good way to attract people in to the club and maybe get them interested in playing bridge!
You may also like to have a short game of Minibridge to help people become more comfortable playing cards.

Social Bridge with Lunch

County Bridge Club in Leicester run Social Bridge with Lunch and it is a great success attracting 7-9 tables each week. This could be run as a festival event or something your club could think of running regularly. This will probably work best for clubs with kitchen facilities or access to source a good value lunch.
Charity Lunches
Charity Lunches can be a good way to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Play a session of bridge with a break for lunch or afternoon tea with a donation included in the entry fee. Bridge could be duplicate or rubber bridge as preferred.

Free Lessons
Offering some free lessons may be a great way to attract people in to the club and encourage them to give bridge a go.
