Club Management Focus: Summer 2012

National Inter Club Knock Out (NICKO)

  • This is the most popular of all EBU tournaments and is open to all affiliated clubs, with no limit on the number of teams each club can enter. Why not enter one or more teams from your club this year! The cost is £72 for one team from each club; £54 per additional team thereafter. See the separate article in this issue of Club Management Focus for full details. Closing date is 21 September. Please print out the poster and place it on your club notice board. You could also print an A5 version and place it on the playing tables.

EBU Autumn Simultaneous Pairs

  • Don’t forget to enter your club for one or more of the Sim Pairs events running all week from 10-14 September. The entry fee of £2.50 per player is based on clubs downloading all that they need via the Members Area. If you wish to receive printed Commentary Booklets by post, these will cost £8 for a pack of 20 booklets. For full instructions on how to register click here.

National Pairs Heats

  • This competition gives your club's pairs a chance to compete at local, regional and national levels. All EBU-affiliated clubs can hold heats of the National Pairs Competition, usually at any time between October and Mid-February, although they may require the prior approval of the relevant County Association. The heat can be combined with an ordinary club night. Masterpoints at Regional Scale, i.e. Club Scale x 3 (including green points if three or more tables), are awarded to those pairs coming in the top third of those participating in the heat. Those pairs also qualify for the Regional Finals, usually held in March at a number of venues around the country. For further details please click here.

Autumn Congress (19-21 October, 2012)

  • This is the second year at the new Stratford venue which features a timetable with an early finish on Saturday evening (approx. 7.30pm) so that you can enjoy the facilities of this very pleasant location. The entry fee for the full congress is £95. For full details please click here.
