Incorporating the Northern Senior Pairs Championship
The Spa provides a splendid venue right on the seafront in a wonderful seaside town. The congress has a relaxed holiday atmosphere ideal for players new to national bridge competitions. There is great value for money in the many restaurants and Scarborough hotels. Players are advised to book the congress before the accommodation. Mornings are free to enjoy the many attractions of North Yorkshire (see below).
The Swiss Pairs is stratified.
Seniors events
In response to demand for more seniors events in the North of England, the Scarborough Congress now includes Seniors Tournaments. There will be a Seniors Pairs with qualifying rounds on the Wednesday. On Thursday there will be two-session primary and secondary finals. Pairs not qualifying for either of these can play in a single-session consolation event on Thursday afternoon, and will also be able to play (without any extra charge) in the single-session Open Pairs on Thursday evening.
There is also a prize for the top ‘senior team’ in Friday’s Multiple Teams competition.
To be eligible for the Seniors competitions/prizes at the Congress you should have been born in 1959 or earlier. Please note that following changes to the Seniors criteria by the WBF, in 2019 Seniors' competitions are for those aged 61 or older - see here for more details.
